Mel ~ I winged my training until the half marathon distance. When I decided to push for the longer distance of a full marathon and I knew I couldn’t wing it anymore and finish comfortably so I turned to the Running Mums Australia Facebook group and found Kate who as a runner herself understands why we run as well as being super easy to talk to. The training app she uses is easy to navigate and her plans are never boring. I loved running my first marathon and wouldn’t have made it without Coach Kate. Now we’re working on training for my first ultra marathon and I have no doubt that I’ll achieve that goal too with Kate on my side.
I’m Kate Heyward - a distance running coach and long-time runner with a deep love for the process of training, growth, and achievement.
Since 2014, I’ve coached runners all over Australia (and beyond), helping them reach their goals - from first 5k’s to ultra distances.
As an accredited Level 2 Athletics Australia coach and passionate athlete myself (100k & 50k trail races, 3:03 marathon, 1:24 half marathon, 38:38 10K, 18:35 5K), I bring both evidence-based training knowledge and lived experience to the coaching process.
Other qualifications: Graduate Diploma of Education, Masters of Environment (Sustainability), Bachelor of Environmental Science.
